Dyeing Tints on Wool

Updated: Feb 26, 2023

This is a group of tints of one hue, a rich orchid purple mix. I start first with a color formula that I think is going to work, and dye just one skein first to test my theory. Then I'll dye a range, using .1%, .25%, .50%, 1.50% and 2% amounts of dye to the same weight of fiber.

In this case, there is a slight hue shift in the darker shades that I can't explain, except that I added more acid to the dyebath at the end, so I'm going to have to do it over at some point.

The color is just gorgeous in person, truly vivid and radiant.

Lanaset dyes used: Violet, Bordeaux, Red 2B, Orange.
